The IRT also offers distinct educational programs that use theatre as the basis for dynamic learning experiences:

The Encore! Card                    Maybe being in school isn't such a bad deal after all. Now, you can take in some of that liberal art you've heard so much about at a great price. Just present your official Encore! Card and a valid student ID at the IRT Ticket Office to see any play, any time, as many times as you'd like for a one-time fee of $50. Save money, bring a friend, or just enjoy the show. To get and activate your Encore! Card, come to the IRT ticket office or call at 317 635-5252

The Artists-in-the-Classroom program is a custom-made program bringing professional artists to your classrooms for hands-on, highly interactive learning sessions.

YPiP-Young Playwrights in Process challenges area junior and senior high school students to write original plays.

The Bonderman National Youth Playwriting Development Workshop is a biennial program aimed at fostering writing plays for youth audiences.

Summer Programming:

Expanding Your Classroom

The IRT and its educational staff are committed to providing a dynamic approach to your students’ arts integration experience. We offer post-show discussions and behind-the-scene tours for an in-depth theatre experience.

In addition to these services, the IRT offers Artists in the Classroom (AIC) programming. AIC offers your students the opportunity to study with working professionals, with a variety of different educational programs to meet your curriculum needs.

Find out how you can “add-on” an AIC program to your student matinee performance when you make your student matinee reservation!

School Bus Unloading & Parking

The curb in front of the IRT on westbound Washington Street is a no-parking zone. Buses may only stop there, one abreast, long enough to unload or load, then must pull away and park elsewhere. School buses may pay to at marked metered curbside spaces.  Contact Kara Moreland for alternative parking arrangements.
