The IRT is looking for both a male and female African American child to play Percy and Martha. The boy should be 12 or 13 years old and the girl should be in the age range of 11 to 13 years old. Rehearsals begin on March 27, 2012 with the major tech dates being April 14-15.
The Miracle Worker will run from April 17, first preview, to May 20, 2012, closing performance. It will play approximately 22 public shows and 19 student matinee performances at 10:00 AM.
The audition will be held in Wednesday, January 18, 2012 from 4-5:30pm. Please call (317) 635-5277 to make an appointment.
-Please arrive at least 10-minutes before your audition time to complete paperwork. -The children should prepare a one to two-minute monologue or story that must be memorized.
-They should dress in everyday comfortable clothes that they can move in.
The IRT is located in the heart of downtown Indianapolis where a lot of construction is taking place.
Additional script information: It’s a play based on the actual events in the life of the young Helen Keller.The play takes place in the 1880’s in Tuscumbia, Alabama in and around the home of Captain Arthur Keller, who served with the Confederates in the army. Percy is a young boy who could be described as strong, clever, dutiful, curious, and honest. Martha is a young girl who could be described as playful, precocious, inquisitive, and yet respectful.
*There will be a dog in the production.
*The IRT must have school permission for final casting.
