The Indiana Repertory Theatre's 38th season promises another great year of opportunities for our friends, patrons and families all over Indiana. While it's a large and ample bill of plays that will entertain, challenge, delight and maybe even upset a few folks, we’re much more than the plays we will present. We look to this opportunity to bring a revitalized and renewed commitment to the community with a new front door, more patron amenities and a stronger promise to be more than just an arts organization.
Making theatre requires only three simple ingredients: audience, actors and a magical space in which they gather to experience the creative alchemy that only theatre can offer.
Each season is a unique journey—a journey of ten plays—which we craft for our Indiana audiences to enjoy, created by superior artists we gather from across the country.
We want to bring you variety in all its many attributes: variety of subject matter and style, variety of historic and cultural views, variety of emotional and intellectual experiences, all created to deliver to you a variety of long-held memories. But it is our intention that there is always one experience you can depend on every time you come to the IRT: the highest quality of professional theatre artistry. Whether there is one actor on the stage or twenty, we believe that your experience will be dynamic, engaging and the cause of lively conversation for days to come.
Thanks, Central Indiana, for giving us 38 years of sharing the timeless and universal mystique of theatre with you!
Janet Allen, Artistic Director
IRT theatregoers have come to expect outstanding professional theatre; courageously selected, stylishly produced, strikingly directed and beautifully performed. We understand your expectation and commit ourselves to doing exactly that. With this understanding and commitment comes a belief that you deserve more. Whether you’re a relative newcomer or a 30+ year subscriber, a modest contributor or one of our leading corporate sponsors or one of the 50,000 students and teachers attending a performance this season or an ardent theatre aficionado…you know that we’ll do our part.
From the moment you arrive, we’ll park your car and serve you a drink or refreshment in our new public lobby. Enjoy our eclectic 81-year-old building filled with the oddities and beauty that make it one of the city’s iconic cultural assets before you experience a play and story brought to life and performed with our special touches like no other theatre company can.
You’re our inspiration this season. I look forward to seeing you and having you accept your role as we work together to deliver the 2009-10 OneAmerica Season at the IRT!
