How the arts influence communities

The arts expand our perspectives

by allowing audiences to explore meaningful issues and engage in civil discussion.

The arts improve our communities.

Where there are high concentrations of arts, communities experience higher civic engagement, lower poverty rates, and improved child welfare.

Arts education improves academic performance,

including improving GPAs and standardized test performance, and decreasing dropout rates and drug use.

The arts stimulate the local economy,

with attendees spending an average of $24.60 per person, per event attended in addition to their ticket price.

The arts fuel the national economy,

with nonprofit arts organizations generating $135 billion to the US economy annually.

Ticket sales cover only half of our operating budget, which means the Indiana Repertory Theatre relies on charitable contributions to accomplish our mission. You can play a vital role in our success by making a gift today!
