2025 Workshops
In order to get the dream role, actors must deliver a strong, unique audition! This workshop will tackle monologues, cold-reads, and making the audition fun from start to finish. Whether shooting for the starring role in a community theatre production or setting sights on college theatre programs, auditions are a part of the process. in addition, young actors will be guided by professionals in the art of choosing, analyzing, and delivering a strong monologue.
When: July 14, 9 AM-4:30 PM

This is a full day workshop that will have artists acting, singing, and dancing their way to a strong package to take into audition rooms. Performers will learn how to find the ideal 16-bar cut of a song, practice learning a dance combination quickly, and explore making bold acting choices. Most of all, students will learn the importance of bringing their unique personality to the audition—and enjoying the audition process on the whole!

Calling all high school playwrights! In this full-day workshop, a professional playwright will encourage young writers to put their story ideas into play form. Students will be coached on world-, character-, and scene-building techniques for their own plays, and they will learn of the benefits of group feedback for improving their work. This is a great way to gear up for the IRT’s annual Young Playwrights in Process playwriting contest!

Not all the action is on the stage! Learn tips and tricks from our props department on how to make fake food and a furry friend. With a day full of hands on learning, students will gain practical knowledge that will be the envy of any drama department.

Take a deep dive into drama as you work with a professional actor and director. Discover bold choices in a safe environment as students learn how to find the truth in characters that may be very different from themselves.
