In order to get the dream role, actors must deliver a strong, unique audition! This workshop will tackle monologues, cold-reads, and making the audition fun from start to finish. Whether shooting for the starring role in a community theatre production or setting sights on college theatre programs, auditions are a part of the process. With this half-day workshop, young actors will dive headfirst into the art of the audition. (Pairs well with “Monologue Masterclass”)
When: July 8, 1:30 PM-5 PM
Price: $50 p/ workshop
*Or $75 if you take 2 half-day workshops.
This is a full-day workshop that will have artists acting, singing, and dancing their way to a strong package to take into audition rooms. Performers will learn how to find the ideal 16-bar cut of a song, practice learning a dance combination quickly, and explore making bold acting choices. Most of all, students will learn the importance of bringing their unique personality to the audition—and enjoying the audition process on the whole!
When: July 10, 9 AM-4:30 PM (with a lunch break)
Price: $75 p/ workshop
Calling all high school playwrights! In this full-day workshop, a professional playwright will encourage young writers to put their story ideas into play form. Students will be coached on world-, character-, and scene-building techniques for their own plays, and they will learn of the benefits of group feedback for improving their work. This is a great way to gear up for the IRT’s annual Young Playwrights in Process playwriting contest in the fall!
