The 2022–2023 Season
The 2022-2023 Season is a momentous occasion for Dance Kaleidoscope with the celebration of the 50th Anniversary. Over its 50-year history, Dance Kaleidoscope has been recognized for exceptional contemporary dance, arts education, and for its outstanding contributions to Indiana’s arts and cultural communities. This historic year will be a time to reflect on a golden legacy of achievement, the tremendous growth the organization has achieved and to celebrate all those who helped to facilitate it.
This important 50th Anniversary milestone will be marked by a year-long series of performances and events that aim to celebrate the past and embrace and envision the future.

Carmina Burana

One of Hochoy’s signature works, Carmina Burana is timeless. The music, composed by Carl Orff in 1936, remains one of the most popular pieces of classical music repertoire. When combined with David Hochoy's dance interpretation that premiered in 1995...you'll understand why this spectacle is a perennial favorite! With a new cast of dancers, you’ll be captivated by their passion, the costumes, lighting and Fantasia-like storytelling.
APPROXIMATE RUN TIME: 1 hour and 30 minutes, including an intermission.

ALL YOU NEED IS LOVE AND DANCE
Magical Mystery Tour is a crowd favorite with wild, 60's inspired fantasy costumes, joyful dancing and of course a multitude of the Beatles’ magical music. With nonstop colorful action you’ll see and hear the Beatles in a whole new light. Featured songs include “Here Comes the Sun,” “All You Need is Love,” and “The Long and Winding Road.”
This magical performance also includes new works set to music from across the decades and featured at the 2022 IndyFringe Festival. Company dancers choreographed a wide variety of works, from whimsical and fun to emotional and moving.

THE MOST FITTING GRAND FINALE
David Hochoy’s "Scheherazade" is inspired by “A Thousand and One Nights'' and embodies the magic of storytelling and the imagination as stories shift from the abstract to narrative. The stunning costumes and lighting make the full cast of dancers come alive as Scheherazade, a princess, a prince on horseback, a witch and her minions. The rigorous and pulsing grande finale showcases the stamina and pinpoint coordination of dancers always at their peak. This is one of those Dance Kaleidoscopes’ performances that make you leap to your feet!
This work premiered in Indianapolis in 1995, and it’s fitting that this is the last work of the 2022-23 Legacy Season.
