From Stage to Screen to Stage Again
Before it was a beloved hit series on Netflix, Kim’s Convenience was a humorous little-play-that-could fan favorite at the Toronto Fringe Festival. See how it all began onstage at the IRT.
For over 30 years, the first-generation Korean immigrant Mr. Kim has dispensed acerbic yet fatherly wisdom, history lessons, and ketchup-flavored potato chips from behind his convenience store counter in Regent Park, Toronto. But as condos and box stores remake the identity of the neighborhood, he faces a future filled with uncertainty as the distance between his dreams and his children’s widens. Kim’s Convenience is a laugh-out-loud funny, deeply moving, feel-good story of love and family.
Co-production with Everyman Theatre and Portland Center Stage
