Classes & Workshops at IRT

As part of its commitment to the community, IRT provides continuing education opportunities for youth and adults. In Classes at IRT, professional artists and highly-trained staff provide a safe, supportive, and fun atmosphere that immerses students into the process of theatre. Explore, discover, and create with us! Learn more below about the classes program and our current offerings.

About Classes

  • All classes are held at Indiana Repertory Theatre. (140 W Washington Street)
  • Registration for classes closes 48 hours before the first session.
  • All registration fees must be paid prior to the start of the first class in a session.
  • $25 of your registration fee is a non-refundable deposit. Cancellations and refunds (minus deposit) may be requested up to 24 hours before the start of the first class in a session.
  • No refunds will be issued should a student choose not to complete a session after the start of classes.
  • IRT reserves the right to cancel any class. A complete refund will be made in the event of a cancellation.
  • IRT reserves the right to make changes in instructors, schedule, check-in or dismissal as deemed necessary by the IRT production schedule. Students and guardians will be notified of any changes.

Spit Takes & Prat Falls: Physical Comedy in The Play That Goes Wrong

Enjoy an afternoon of high energy high jinks! Watch the mayhem that occurs throughout The Play that Goes Wrong, then join IRT actor Claire Wilcher as she shares the secrets of the set, and how to safely create some of the physical comedy you just saw on stage. A light snack will be included to enjoy during the show. Please wear close-toed, close-heeled shoes and comfortable clothes that you can move freely in. No experience necessary!

Who: 12 and up
When: April 27, 2025 from 2 – 5:30 PM
Cost: $50 (includes ticket to the show that day, class, & light snack)

HIGH SCHOOL WORKSHOPS

For high school students with more targeted artistic goals, IRT Education offers a series of full day workshops! Professional, highly trained IRT teaching artists will guide young theatre makers in specialized skill sets like audition technique, playwriting, and prop production. These process-based workshops offer a deeper dive, more individual attention, and a fun learning environment where students can explore their expanding theatrical interests!

For High Schoolers

2025 Workshops

GENERAL WORKSHOP INFORMATION

  • Workshops available for students entering grades 9-12 in the Fall of 2025
  • $100 per full day (combining more than one workshop is $75 per day)
  • Students should bring lunch and a water bottle.
  • Financial aid available.
  • This camp is welcoming to all genders, races, and abilities.  Please inform us if your young artist would benefit from a specific accommodation.
  • Students should wear comfortable clothing with closed-toed shoes that allows them to move freely. (no flip flops or sandals)
