All IRT patrons attending public performances must continue to show a photo ID and proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test (administered no more than 72 hours prior to the performance), in addition to wearing a mask. This is consistent with the commitments we have made with our artists, staff, and audiences to ensure their safety.
For Steel Magnolias, we will allow concessions in the Theatre, and the balcony seating area will now be a mask-optional area. Please see our full Health & Safety information and policies on our FAQs page.

IRT Student Matinee Pricing and Reservation Policies

Requests for tickets to an IRT Student Matinee are processed on a first-come, first-served basis. Teachers and groups are encouraged to book early as many shows do sell out.

For Sense and Sensibility, The Chinese Lady, Flyin’ West, Oedipus, Shakespeare’s Will, and Clue

After your reservation is made and you've received your invoice, you may amend your order until 6 weeks prior to your performance. This 6 week deadline is printed on your invoice. All changes to your order must be approved by IRT via phone or email. Handwritten annotations to your invoice will not be honored. Requests for changes after the deadline printed on your invoice may not be honored at IRT's discretion. Orders placed within 6 weeks of a performance date are considered final and cannot be amended.

Payment for your order is due 6 weeks prior to your performance. This 6 week deadline is printed on your invoice. To arrange payment by installment or delayed payment, contact IRT. Instructions for submitting payment are printed on your invoice. IRT accepts checks payable to "IRT" and major credit cards. All payments are final. Refunds or exchanges will not be made except in cases of cancellation due to inclement weather.

If a student or chaperone with a paid ticket is absent on the day of your visit, we can provide a voucher allowing them to return to another performance of the same play. If attending a public performance, the guest will be required to follow any COVID protocols. The voucher is good for one ticket only. No refunds will be given due to student absence.

If your school is canceled or delayed due to inclement weather, please contact IRT Education as soon as possible. We will first attempt to find a future performance of the same show to move your reservation into. If that is not an option for your school, we will try to move your reservation into a different production later in the season. If none of those options work, we can offer a refund of your ticket cost. Refunds are only available in instances of weather-related cancellations.

IRT will make every effort to accommodate the needs of any student. If anyone in your group requires wheelchair-accessible seating, audio description, ASL or assisted listening services, sensory-friendly seating or any other accommodations, please let IRT know at least 30 days before your visit so that we can best accommodate your needs. While we will work diligently to meet the needs of every student, we cannot guarantee accommodation requests made within 30 days of the performance.

Financial assistance for tickets and transportation to all IRT Student Matinees is available thanks to generous support from the Alan and Linda Cohen Education Fund. Contact IRT for details.

The safety of our staff, patrons, and artists is incredibly important to us. We have made the following changes to our policies to ensure the well-being of everyone attending a performance.

  • School groups will have buffer seats for social distance in the theatre.
  • Student groups attending student matinee performances do not need to show proof of vaccine or negative COVID test.
  • Masks are required for all patrons ages 2 and older unless you are medically unable, regardless of school policy.
  • Masks will be available to patrons who need them.
  • Staff will be masked in all public spaces
  • There will be no concessions offered at student matinees.
  • There will be no food or drink permitted in the theatre during student matinees.
  • Hand sanitizer is readily available throughout the lobby.
  • Hard copy programs will not be distributed. Please feel welcome to view our digital programs for performances which can be found on our website.
  • Restrooms, public spaces, galleries, and high-touch surfaces are cleaned and sanitized at increased intervals.
  • Additional visit opportunities such as backstage tours and lunch space rentals will not be available this season.
  • If you have been exposed to COVID-19 recently or are experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, or shortness of breath), please stay home and plan a future visit instead.

Because we can’t know an individual’s vaccination status we are relying on our visitors to make the right decision with regards to mask-wearing. Thank you for your cooperation while we continue to navigate this together. If you have any additional questions, please contact IRT Education at
