Indianapolis, Ind.— The Indiana Repertory Theatre (IRT) is producing the heart-pounding action adventure The Da Vinci Code, presented by Printing Partners and co-produced with Cleveland Play House (CPH). Directed by Benjamin Hanna, IRT’s Margot Lacy Eccles Artistic Director, The Da Vinci Code is the twelfth production he’s directed at the Theatre. The Da Vinci Code will run from September 23 through October 18, 2026. 

Based on Dan Brown’s 2003 bestseller and adapted with the blessing of the author, The Da Vinci Code live stage production brings all the excitement of the book to a “fast-paced, two-hour roller coaster of thrills” (London Theatre). Theatregoers will get drawn into the mystery’s twists and turns as Professor Robert Langdon and agent Sophie Neveu race to solve a modern-day murder by deciphering the past. Surprising questions and personal connections weave through the world of religious art and conspiracy, and audiences will be on the edge of their seat from its cryptic start to its shocking finish. 

The Da Vinci Code marks the first of the IRT’s co-productions with other League of Resident Theatres members for the 2026–2027 Season. After the show premieres in Indianapolis, it will move to Cleveland Play House in January 2027. Co-productions elevate the nationwide prominence of Indiana’s premiere regional theatre, and ensure longer contracts for creatives and cost savings for theatres.

The cast comprises accomplished actors from both across the country and right here in Indianapolis, including Ryan Artzberger, Sean Blake, Jen Johnasen, Devan O’Mailia Mathias, and Eric Sharp returning to the IRT. 

After The Da Vinci Code, the IRT will put on five more world-class productions through the rest of its 2026–2027 Season. Kim’s Convenience, the play that inspired the hit Netflix series, will run October 20 – November 15, 2026, and is co-produced with Everyman Theatre in Maryland and Portland Center Stage in Oregon. Charles Dickens’ A Christmas Carol runs November 14 – December 26, 2026, continuing Indy’s cherished holiday tradition. Branden Jacobs-Jenkins’ Purpose, the 2025 Pulitzer Prize– and Tony Award–winning drama, starts the new year; it is co-produced with Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park and runs January 26 – February 21, 2027. From February 16 – March 21, 2027, a fresh twist on a familiar favorite Louisa May Alcott’s Little Women will be on stage, written by America’s most-produced living playwright Lauren Gunderson. And closing out the season is the enduring golden-age Broadway musical Guys and Dolls, which runs April 7 – May 9, 2027. 

The Theatre will host supplemental programming during the run of each show, including a Community Conversation, featuring community members discussing our deep and enduring human fascination with symbols; Artist Conversations that provide a behind-the-scenes perspective on the production with the actors, directors, and designers who bring the show to life; an American Sign Language / Audio Described performance; and a Sensory-Friendly Performance.
