Indy’s holiday tradition returns
Now more than ever, we need to gather together to celebrate the joy of the season. A Christmas Carol shines a light on the power of kindness and love in this uplifting tale of one man’s journey to redemption. As the weather turns cold, warm your heart with the IRT as we joyfully reimagine and tenderly bring this annual holiday treasure to new life.
APPROXIMATE RUN TIME: 2 hours and 15 minutes, including a 20-minute intermission.
Due to content and length, OneAmerica Mainstage and Upperstage productions are not suitable for children under 4 years of age, and it is the IRT’s policy that children under 4 are not permitted in these Theatres.
Health & Safety Guidelines:
All IRT patrons 12 and over attending public performances must show a photo ID and proof of COVID-19 vaccination or a negative COVID-19 PCR test (administered no more than 72 hours prior to the performance), in addition to wearing a mask. Children 4 - 11 and accompanied by a vaccinated adult, are able to attend without PCR testing and must wear a mask. By purchasing a ticket, you acknowledge and agree to comply with the terms of our policies. Please see our full Health & Safety information and policies on our FAQs page.
We will also have two performances of A Christmas Carol solely for patrons who are fully vaccinated. There are no exceptions for these performances and all patrons, regardless of age, must be fully vaccinated.
Vaccination-only A Christmas Carol performances: Sunday, December 12 at 6 pm and Tuesday, December 21 at 7:30 pm.
Sensory Friendly A Christmas Carol performance: Sunday, December 26 at 1 pm.
Artistic Note:
“A Christmas Carol at the IRT is as reliable and mysterious as sunrise. Over many years it has become a community tradition that stands on the shoulders of all its previous incarnations. Each year we lovingly make a new version that celebrates Mr. Dickens’ story of redemption and, like all art that endures over time, our relationship to A Christmas Carol continues to evolve as the story finds new meaning. The IRT production is a celebration between actors and audience that ultimately restores a sense of awe and gratitude, not only in the iconic character of Scrooge, but hopefully for all of us in the audience as well! – James Still, IRT’s Playwright-in-Residence and Director of A Christmas Carol
